I-REC ENERGY CERTIFICATE
Borusan EnBW Enerji has I-REC energy certificate for some renewable energy facilities.
I-REC is an international certification system developed by RECS International that certifies that the electricity produced and consumed is produced from renewable energy sources and that specifies its environmental characteristics.
With the I-REC certificates of the system, electricity consumers can both monitor that the consumed electricity is produced from renewable energy sources and support renewable energy investments by supplying these.
The electrical energy used at every point where electricity is consumed comes from power plants connected to different generation sources connected to the grid. Therefore, the electrical energy consumed physically is produced from a natural gas power plant, a coal power plant or a renewable power plant.
International energy certificates, on the other hand, are a reliable and effective method used to monitor the source from which electricity is produced. For electricity produced from renewable energy, the energy certificate contains information about the generation characteristics such as the source of the energy, location, capacity, installed power and age of the power plant.
The operation of energy certification systems consists of 3 stages:
1. Energy facilities that perform certain operations, by registering in the database of the System, have electronic certificates for each unit of energy (MWh) they produce and give to the grid.
2. Power generation companies can sell these certificates separately from electricity sales.
3. Consumers can support renewable energy investments by obtaining these certificates according to their purposes.
What is I-REC Certification?
I-REC is an international certification system developed by RECS International that certifies that the electricity produced and consumed is produced from renewable energy sources and that specifies its environmental characteristics.
Renewable energy installations that perform certain processes obtain renewable energy certificates in return for their production by registering with the database created by I-REC. Energy generation companies can issue these certificates separately from electricity sales.
Electricity consumers can support renewable energy investments by obtaining these certificates, although they are aware of the fact that the electricity consumed is obtained from renewable energy sources thanks to the certificates belonging to the system.
