THE NEW POWER OF THE GREEN COLLAR
THE NEW POWER OF THE GREEN COLLAR
The green energy transformation, which is the focus of the transition to a green economy, not only accelerates renewable energy investments, but also creates new employment opportunities in the sector. The concept of “green collar”, which has been used frequently in recent years to express the business lines that serve the green economy, includes functions for direct facility management such as operation technician and maintenance technician in the renewable energy sector and all other support functions. However, the rate of female employees currently employed, especially on a facility basis, is quite low.

Borusan EnBW Energy is launching the New Power of the Green Collar project, Energy for Girl Students, in order to meet the increasing employment needs of the sector and to create an alternative that will support gender equality at the same time. The project includes a training and field trip module on renewable energy facilities, the operation of these facilities and key tasks, and a mentoring module for the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades of vocational high schools, which includes leadership and preparation processes for working life.

Aydın Mimar Sinan Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School Renewable Energy Department students, selected as the pilot school within the scope of the project, visited Borusan EnBW Enerji's İzmir Fuatres WPP facility in June 2022, after the awareness training they received online in February 2022 as part of the project. The students, who made a field trip at the Wind Energy Facility, learned about how the wind farms work and how a day is spent in operation.
